Originally from the Midwest, Christine Hartman studied with Stanley Lewis at the Kansas City Art Institute before moving to New York to attend the Parsons School of Design and Brooklyn College, where she completed her MFA. The artist’s still life and figure paintings are not copied representations but reconstructions of a complex visual world. A resident of the Hudson River Valley, she shows regularly in Connecticut and at Bowery Gallery in New York City.
