OUNDED IN NEW YORK CITY in 1994, Zeuxis began as an association of painters exploring the possibilities of still life—traditionally the least prestigious of genres—in the post-Modernist art world.

To date, Zeuxis has organized over forty exhibitions around the country. These shows have included such notable guest artists as Wayne Thiebaud, Nell Blaine, Lois Dodd and many others.

"The Common Object," a traveling exhibiton that has received enthusiastic reviews, was on view at Prince Street Gallery in NYC in October 2010, and moves on to the Maryland Institute College of Art in December, 2011. The exhibition, which includes work by guest artists Richard Baker, Catherine Kehoe, Don Southard and others, previously appeared at the Peninsula Fine Art Center in Newport News, VA, and the Lancaster Museum of Art in Lancaster, PA. .

Zeuxis is currently organizing an exhibition titled "Reflections," to appear at the Crisp Museum in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and several other venues starting in 2012.

Though coming from different artistic backgrounds and philosophies, the painters of Zeuxis share an interest in pictorial rigor and a perceptual response to nature. The constituency of Zeuxis has evolved over the years, but Zeuxis customarily numbers about two dozen artists. These artists continue to show their work independently of Zeuxis as well.
